About our directors

Mallory Shepard (Co-Director) has worked in the childcare industry since 2004, and has recently earned her masters degree in child development. With years of experience, she has gained knowledge in a multitude of teaching techniques that facilitate learning for various personalities and encourage curiosity. Her desire to educate young children and guide them through their educational journey has grown every year, while also maintaining the highest standards for our team of educators.

Amber Williams (Co-Director) has been in the childcare industry since 2010, and has specialized in infant and toddler care. Her passion for her students shows through her patience and tailored curriculum building skills. Ms. William's nurturing personality helps our young learners feel confident in themselves to accept new challenges and find answers to their questions about their world around them!

Heather Eames (Assistant Director) has been teaching since 1996, and has gained an abundance of experience in helping children of all developmental stages grow and become independent and confident learners. Her honest and kind demeanor, along with many years of curriculum building and lesson providing, she has created a love for learning in our Pre-K students!

Our team of directors are happy to help you with any of your questions about our philosophy, programs, and the education and development of your child!

About our programs

Guiding Stars Academy follows a Country Day School philosophy, in which we offer hands-on, engaging activities that prepare your child for kindergarten and create a love for learning.

Our infant and young toddler program (Rising Stars) offers nurturing care that encourages physical and mental stimulation using social interaction and age appropriate toys and enrichment activities.

The older toddler/2's program (Shooting Stars) entails active and social learning, as well as developmentally appropriate activities such as emergent writing, phonics, math, art, and much more.

As your child ages, they will advance to our young preschool program (Rock Stars). The activities will develop with your child to continue to challenge and stimulate them. Our Pre-K program (Super Stars) is structured more like a kindergarten class that you would typically see in an elementary school, with more structured lessons taught using flexible seating with even more challenging activities that promote problem solving, self-control and independence.

The Country Day School philosophy recreates the educational rigor of preparatory schools, while also encouraging creative and fine arts. Our school is dedicated to ensuring that by the time your child attends kindergarten, they are socially and cognitively ready to succeed while their creativity blossoms as we encourage them to explore more advanced arts and express their uniqueness. Just as the stars help explorers navigate their journey, Guiding Stars Academy helps to navigate your child to success!
